Meet Maria

Maria da Silva is the chief baker, cake designer, and owner at Maria's and Yummy Mummys Cakes. Born in Portugal, Maria has been baking for as long as she can remember and grew up making traditional Portuguese Natas in her mother's kitchen.

Both a designer and an artist, Maria has been creating award-winning, freshly baked cakes locally for all occasions since 2010. Maria is famous as much for her moist sponge and creamy butter icing as her creative and stylish wedding cakes.

Beautiful afternoon tea

"Last weekend I visited Maria's with some family for afternoon tea. I have had a few before, however, the one at Maria’s was the best one to date! The table was beautifully decorated in vintage china and the food was delicious. She bakes all of the cakes fresh every day and they were some of the best cakes I have ever eaten. Would 100% recommend going. Staff were lovely and really made you feel at home. Overall it was a great experience and I will definitely be visiting again."

Best panini sandwich I’ve ever had!

"Went into Maria’s for a bite to eat and a tea, and was met with welcoming staff and great food. My salmon and cream cheese panini was really lovely and the pot of tea with pretty china cups was an added bonus! Superb environment to spend my lunchtime, and it was nice to find out they are also dog-friendly! Definitely going there again, and would highly recommend."

"Came to have coffee and cake with girlfriends. The shop itself is so beautiful and welcoming ......so cute that you feel like you're in Willy Wonka's chocolate factory. Had the vegan carrot cake which was so fresh I almost went for two pieces. Will be back to have more delicious cakes!"

An absolute gem!

"We visited here today and had coffee and paninis... it was all beautifully presented and tasted amazing, I had the goats cheese, onion chutney and roasted peppers panini and couldn't recommend it enough. The staff were really friendly too. If we are in the area again I would definitely make time for a stop here."
